Swach

Perhaps modelled after the concept at Taaza kitchen, the best thing about Swach is it’s ambience. You can stand and eat, sit casual on a bench and eat; or sit properly at a table and eat! Their food is not exceptional though. They have too many counters (for Poori, for Dosa, for Idli, for beverages etc). I was reminded of Swathi tiffins in Somajiguda that has one counter for all and yet does a fantastic job at delivering! The green coconut chutney is good; the poori is also good. The dosa was underwhelming though. Not a place that I would frequent.

Krishnapatnam

True to their name, they offer many telugu cuisine dishes. The Gongura Mutton curry, Kamju Pitta fry and the Nalli Ghost biryani are quite tasty. The Natu Kodi curry along with white rice is yet another combination that must be tried here. I am not a curd-loving person but I heard that the curd rice is also quite good here, after all that spicy stuff you just had! This place is often quite full, no wonder!

Maaredumilli

The hype around the ambience is all negated by the unbelievably long time they take to deliver your food. They actually seem to be very proud of the fact that any dish that you order will take a minimum of 45 minutes to come. You actually end up waiting atleast an hour before food is on your table. This place is basically a re-hash of the failed experiment of Kuchipudi Kitchen, where your biryani is put on the stove after you place the order and the pressure cooker is directly bought to your table. Confusion often prevails if you order different types of pulaos. The theme has nothing to do with the menu that is offered too. Not going back here 😊.

Rajamundry Ruchulu

This restaurant came up at a place where far too many shops or restaurants closed earlier! However, Rajahmundry Ruchulu seemed to have clicked well, going by how people are flocking it for their curry combos! You have the option of choosing 3, 6 or 9 curry combo along with their Bagara rice or white rice. The Bagara rice has a good coconut flavour to it, typical of Rajamundry 😊. Chicken, Natu Kodi, and Mutton curries are really good here. This is comfort food that is equally tasty. They also have the famous Rajamundry Rose Milk on their menu!

The Spicy Venue

The famed MLA Potlam Biryani is from this place! The presentation lives up true to it’s name. Potlam means packet – this is prawns biryani wrapped in a packet (potlam) of omlette 😊. The taste was good but certainly not exceptional. What is exceptional here though is their Palleturi Kodi Pulao (Village Style). The chitti mutyala rice, the stock used to cook it, the many chicken pieces in it – all of it makes for some great eating experience.  There is also another dish you must definitely try here – the avakaya chicken biryani! It's simply unbelievable how good the combination of avakaya and chicken tastes!

Simhapuri Deluxe

This restaurant came highly recommended and I must say it didn’t disappoint at all. Over multiple visits to this place, we got to taste their hot veg meals along with chicken iguru, mutton iguru, prawns iguru and the legendary fish fry! Having these dishes with piping hot white rice releases many happy hormones in your body 😊. We had also tried their Mushroom pulao and Mutton Pulao – and they didn’t disappoint either. Head over there folks, for some real good telugu food!

Sri Vyshnavi

Every single item is very spicy here. Good spicy I mean. They offer the small prawns curry that is not offered at many places in the city. And it’s really awesome to have with plain white rice (+rasam if you want!). Their mixed non veg pulao is also a test to your taste buds when it comes to spice 😊. The mutton curry and the fish pulusu are also quite good. However, the best dish according to me is their pachi pulusu ! Perhaps because of the relief it brings after all the spicy stuff. This is only a curry take away point and not a dine-in place, in KPHB.

House of Bagaara (HoB)

Interesting name. Nothing interesting about the food though 😊. This is not to say their taste is not good – I liked many items here. Just that the food is not as interesting as the name! The Chicken-65 is good. Bagara rice with the Telangana Mutton Curry, Homestyle chicken curry was quite tasty and good! I even tried Double ka Meetha here and it tasted ok’ish!

Manchi Baphe

True to their name (which translates to Good Buffet), this restaurant has really wide variety of items in their buffet that so totally justifies their pricing. While the options in their starters and main course are very impressive (especially the non-veg ones 😊), I want to highlight the really great offerings of the desserts in their buffet. The buffet options in desserts are really exhaustive and include some great items such as Tres Leches too 😊.  They also have multiple live counters – chat, dosa, pasta, pan, sugarcane juice etc! I’d strongly recommend that you try the dosa with any of the non-veg curries. In addition to all these multiple offerings, the ambience of this place is also quite good. For sure, we will keep going back to this place!

AnTeRa

AnTeRa stands for Andhra, Telangana and Rayalseema. However, only the telugu speaking people will understand the brilliant word play of the place 😊. And true to their name, they serve a wide variety of cuisine from all these three regions + some Chinese too! The Nalgonda Mutton Fry is one of the best mutton dishes I’ve had. The Korameenu fish fry is also very tasty (I also think this is because the fish was also fresh and frozen). Their prawns curry with Bhimavaram Chicken pulao had the taste glands asking for more! We also tried their chicken fried rice, just because it is there on the menu 😉. The place is mostly full and the noise in the place actually makes it more lively too. AnTeRa surely is a brilliant place to go for nice ambience and great food.

Satti babu Biryani

There was this period of a week or two, where when you open facebook, one of the first reels that was popping up was Sattibabu Biryani! And the short reel was indeed very appetizing to watch. Their concept is simple – very tasty bagara rice accompanied by chicken or mutton or prawns, according to your choice. And now if video is so appetizing, then why would I not order it? And then in the ordering platform, I see that the ratings are not very good. I go ahead and order it anyway, and then realise why the ratings are so low! I ordered joint-piece biryani. What they sent was a deep fried Chicken Joint piece and the bagara rice. The chicken wasn’t as tasty as it looked in the video! The rice was good, but my next order will definitely not be a joint-piece biryani. Will give this place one more try with mutton and then decide what to do!

SV Pulav and Sea Snack

I’d recommend that you directly order from Swiggy/Zomato instead of going here to pick up. This place is basically run by the same folks who run the Hibachi meat shop, in Kukatpally. Their Pulav is truly one of the best in the town – you can try either the chicken or the mixed pulav. You may complain about the quantity of chicken in the pulav but you will forget all that once you start eating the pulav! Their Fish Fry and Chicken Fry are also very good – these are deep fried dishes but retain a very good spicy taste!

Biryani Stories

Though no stories can be told about Biryanis here 😊, the food definitely hasn’t disappointed. I got bored of the usual dum biryani so had the Raju Gari Biryani and Chicken-65 biryani. The typical Raju Gari Biryani in various places is a little wet but it was not so in this case. They also added red food colour but I still liked the taste. The Chicken 65 biryani was also good but the most surprising offer was the Gongura Mutton! They had ample amount of mutton (many places don’t do this much mutton!) with the right proportion of gongura mixed. I was ruing that I didn’t order White rice along with this! Also, there are very few places that serve authentic Godavari prawns – turns out Biryani stories is one such place 😊. The place definitely will be visited multiple times!

Unnathi Grand

I was searching for Nalli Ghosht and turns out that there is this place very close to home that has this item! The dish was sumptuous, and more importantly they served two Nallis thereby doing proper justice to the dish! Their Andhra Chicken curry is also very spicy and tastes good! Masala Kulcha with this Andhra chicken curry is a very good combination!

Raju gari Vindu

Was interested in this place after seeing some good egg options. Their Egg fried pulao was indeed very tasty. In addition to this, the Egg Schezwan fried rice with their Gobi Manchurian was also really good. True to their name, it felt like a king’s meal 😊

Telangana Spice Kitchen

What a place! I love it when we go in large groups to such places because we get to try multiple items in the menu at once. Chicken 65, Apollo Fish, Chitti royyala fry, Karimnagar Fried Wings, Korameenu Roast, Chilly mushrooms – were some real good starters here. Especially the chicken 65 and Karimnagar fried wings! The TSK Special chicken and mutton pulaos were also awesome.  And one of the hidden gems of this place is their Sambar rice – I don’t know how any combination can top a piping hot Sambar rice with chicken/mutton curries!

Kshatriya Foods

A good recommendation from a friend made us first land at this place. Their local food options and the tastes were really good. Their Doopudu Gorre Pulav, made with chitti mutyalu rice was very very tasty. It was spicy yet tasty! All their starters were also very good – chicken fry, mutton fry, pomphret fry, Kouju Pitta roast (though I felt the odour was little strong from the kouju pitta!). Both the times we went, many of their items in the Seasonal Food menu weren’t available (was excited seeing Chinthachiguru mutton and panasa mukkala pulav, but both weren’t available). I think they are closed now because of the pandemic.

Subayya gari hotel

I guess the experience of eating in the hotel will be very different from ordering this to home. Because of the pandemic, never got a chance to eat at the hotel. Their meals are quite famous in Kakinada and they have opened up in Hyderabad also now. Nothing much to complain about their meals 😊 – most curries and fry items are tasty and you will have a fulfilling meal once you eat here! In addition, their sweets are also good – we tried their “nuvvula undalu” as a separate order and liked them too.

Tasty Bowl

Saw an interesting dish on their menu – Chicken 65 Sambar Rice. Got very tempted and ordered it. And for backup, I also ordered Chicken Fry Piece biryani. Turns out that the back up was better than the main item 😊 – I learnt that Chicken 65 and Sambar Rice don’t go well together!

Maa ooru biryani

What a concept, what a taste! Maa ooru biryani is one of the first places to introduce Donne Biryani. Donne are basically palm leaves. The aroma of the biryani when cooked and served in them is simply outstanding. It doesn’t matter if it is chicken, mutton or egg – the flavour of the biryani simply trumps everything else! The rice used is also a lighter variety – chitti mutyalu. It isn’t very heavy on your stomach (atleast mine ðŸ˜‰). One order of biryani is good enough for one person (no sharing please!). You can order any of the Chicken, Mutton or Egg biryanis from them.

Their starters are also quite good – Andhra Style Chilly Chicken and chicken lollypop are good. There is another option you should try  - kodi koora with either their Jonna roti or with white rice at your home! This curry has a real unique taste and am sure you will enjoy it!
