Bliss Punjabi Paratha

Tucked away in the basement of the more visible Y.S.Cafe in Somajiguda, (right opposite to Tung Kein) is this small Punjabi eatery that makes awesome parathas! Pick any (alu, gobi, onion, plain, mix) and there is no scope of being disappointed. This place is pure veg, so haven't really tried out the dishes here :) Ideally, we should take paratha's here, some nice egg burji from Deccan or a chicken 65 from chinese bandis and it will be nice "healthy" dinner! Above all, their hospitality is also very good... it strikes an instant chord.

Inorbit Mall Food Court

Four seasons

One of the best things to have happened to Hyderabad is Four Seasons restaurant in Toli Chowki. And they have a branch in the food court here too. Their non-veg combo is good - in the multiple times I ate it here, never was disappointed. Chicken65, Chicken Sticks, Fish Kabab, Tangdi Kabab, Chicken Lollipop, Schezwan Chicken Fried Rice are all very good here. Most of the times, we end up eating at Four Seasons!

Jalapenos

This is a Mexican place. Typically, quesidillas are good at Mexican place, but I have not tried them here. Their salad bowl offering is very good, and I end up eating only that item at this place :) Highly recommended.

Mad about China

Don't eat here. Period. First, he doesn't take the correct order, then tells me I didn't order. Then he gets the wrong order (I ordered for Soup+Schezuan chicken+chicken in garlic sauce) - he gets Black Pepper chicken and Chicken in Garlic Sauce (and no soup!). Not having the patience to wait for the actual order to come, decided to start eating and then realise the chicken is like very hard ! Not stale, but hard like a rock... not sure what to make of it! Should have listened to Shravya when she said that this should be renamed as Mad at China! Late realisation from my side!

Newsroom

Not sure if I got the name right. This is not in the food court, but in the floor below it. Place is very costly, though the wraps were good. Sandwiches are very small, and very costly too :). I don't think we will be going back to this place again.

Creamstone

Actually the "fruit exotica" icecream they make is very good, but then it is Rs.126/- ! I guess all good things come at a cost :D... worth eating, though not everytime we go there though!

Mayur Pan Shop

This is more about what we get outside the Pan shop than what we get in it :). This Pan shop is located at a stone's throw distance from Papaji ka Dhaba, and also houses Chat/Snacks corner, and this is what blows you off. The Masala Pav Bhaaji is simply out of this world. Soft, cut into pieces, and served with apt masals on it, it will only leave you yearning for more. We can still feel the taste, and the yearning only increases! Pani Puri is also good.

And then there is the Grilled Sandwich. Three bread pieces on top of each, cut into 4 pieces, with the right mixture of vegetables, pudina chutney and cheese.... ahaaaaa... :) :)

And ofcourse, eat the special pan inside the Pan shop and your day is done! We haven't tried other stuff there, but surely we will go again to try. Also, this corner also has a juices stall.

Eat Street

It has multiple food joints, all of which are expensive :D. Like a stupid fellow, I even had Sugarcane juice which was Rs.25/- !! The Chinese at one end is decent enough. Other than the usual stuff, the sauce that comes with it awesome :). Haven't bothered eating pizzas and subs in there. We once tried fish and prawns at the sea food joint, but a. They were expensive b. Quantity was low - hence no repetition! You can maybe grab a frankie while you wait for your main course to be dished out. The place looks crowded, but once you get a seat, I guess it ain't matter anymore. One thing you need to pray - Tank Bund shouldn't dish out its foul smell the day you go there!

Location: Necklace Road

Deccan Food Joint

Located in the small bylane beside Baker's Inn, this is essentially a take away joint. Has a decent seating area too, but still would prefer parcels. Food is good - no complaints so far. Tried the Chicken Tangdi Kabab, Butter Chicken (there was this craving one day to badly have this dish, as it has been ages!), egg burji, chicken 65 and Mutton Biryani. All were good. However, the rotis and naans are not that great... can avoid them if possible. Otherwise, a decent place to go pick up your food and eat while watching TV!

Location: Somajiguda, beside Bakers Inn

N-Grill

Ahhh - this is not for normal crowd. If you want to burn your pockets, please feel free to go here. Not that your stomach will be satisfied after all that pocket burning you do. He recommended Fish Tikka... we thought it will be some out of the world experience. Turns out, it is the same as you get in a normal food joint but 5 times as expensive here! Essentially this place has dishes from Europe, US etc... doesn't appeal to our mass taste buds, you see :) . Clearly, Nagarajuna was catering to a different audience!

Location: Banjara Hills, Road No.36

Red Beans

Been here once, for the lunch buffet. Nothing extraordinary (though their noodles were very good!). Starters had kabab and chinese, and the kabab was good. I am having difficulty recollecting the main course since it's been a while :( . All I remember from this is the Noodles :) . Next time, will update better, promise :)

Bowl-O-China

A one time visit is all that I could manage to this place so far! Had schezuan chicken fried rice with some fish curry... don't recollect the name. Will update this the next time I go there.. this delay in updating is causing the memory loss :(

Sri Kavya Food joint

Located right beside Anjappar, in Panjagutta, this is another parcel only joint. Tried biryani, mutton varities and chicken varities. No complaints at all :) .. just walk in and pick up any non-veg dish - I don't think you will be disappointed.

Thai Express

Nicely perched on the first floor just beside Q Mart in Banjara Hills, this restaurant is one of those that really serves different kind of food, that is very close to the authentic cuisine of Thailand. For a change, we asked the waiter only to guide us through the entire menu and suggest what we should have. The coconut flavoured soup with mushrooms and chicken in it was simply superb. I am not a fan of coconut at all, but this soup was just brilliant! Fried squid as a starter was just an apt combination for this soup.

I realise now that I should have actually noted down the names of the main course items I ate. That's because they all unique Thai names that sound funny to the core! Alas, the concetration was on eating and hence no real names for now :( . Have the noodles in some kind of green soup, that has the right amount of spice, and it will surely make you feel like you are in Thailand! And for desserts, there is this soft rectangular white coloured thing that they wrap in a banana leaf and give it you....ahhhh... eat it to experience it! That's all I can say! For sure, we are going back there again.

Location: Adjacent to Q-mart, opposite Hyderabad House, Banjara Hills Road no.2

Needs Dhaba

Which fool will walk into a Punjabi hotel and just order Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken 65? Yours truly :D :D ... but boy I don't have any regrets for doing so! I have heard so much about this place, located in Kundanbagh, Begumpet (beside the lane of Lifestyle building) that I really did not know what to order to take back home. First I thought, will take naan and butter chicken but was really not in a mood to eat them that day. Hence the wierd order, but believe me, it was worth it. For sure am going back to this place to have more!

Location: Kundanbagh Lane, beside lifestyle, Begumpet

The Westin

This was our first foray into a big star hotel! Westin opened up right in the campus that we work, and we wanted to go and try see how a 5 star ( or is it 7 star) hotel serves its buffet! One thing is for sure - their hospitality is too much to take ;-) .. it's like, for every 25 steps you take, there's someone greeting you and trying to guide you :D.

Anyway, let's get down to business. Given that it is a star hotel, the spread iust lavish. I mean, mind blowingly lavish.

Was not too much impressed with the first outing, but must say the subsequent outings have been very good! The taste of pretty much every item is very good :). There are items from pretty much every continent in their menu!

Various types of bread, cold starters, hot starters, cold salads (both veg and non-veg) are really very good. We spend most of the time eating on this rather than the actual main course :).

Deserts section is also vast and varies everytime we go. I am not a big desert fan but each time I went I ended up liking atleast two deserts!

This place is a must visit atleast once a year :)

Burgerman

The concept behind this small kiosk outside big retail stores is really good. Read about the founders and how they expanded their businesses here. That said, I must say the taste of the burger is not superb. The main problem is that the bun is not fresh and soft! That takes away the fun of eating a really yummy burger. Also, the bun is small and a lot of sauces +cutlet+onions are crammed in between the two small buns, making the burger look larger (than life :P) ! All said and done, the concept is innovative and maybe the place is worth trying out once. I wouldn't go back there, for sure.

Location: Outside Ratnadeep super market, Somajiguda (and at many such places in the city)

Celebrations

Tucked away amidst 'dense' cocounut and other trees, Celebrations is just a few metres away from the famous Vennela mess in Hitec City. Simply put, this is again one of those restaurants we would not be going back to. The buffet is just ordinary, and worse it serves "mutton with dosakaya". Sorry people, but I consider it a sin to coo any vegetable along with chicken/mutton. Robs the chicken/mutton of their taste, and that I consider sacrilege!
