The Little Tibet is on a road that is named “Jai Hind Road” 😊 – some incidences write themselves! We were driving on this road. We were hungry. And I see this small place that was giving a very inviting vibe to come and eat! The place is simple. The menu is also simple. And it is the simple things that taste good. Their steamed and fried dimsums – both were very very tasty. The Chilly Garlic Fried rice with Chilly chicken was also very tasty – the place gives you the feel of having tasty street food quality in a decent setting. It was a nice find 😊.
In Hyderabad, Eat here!
SLAY Coffee
I don’t know why they put this name but they do slay with their coffee! The coffee is rich and tasty. I am a repeat customer of their Cappucino (courtesy my colleagues!). I’ve seen them enjoy the cold coffee from SLAY too. I’ve had their Americano a couple of times and wasn’t disappointed either. Go slay it!
Hocco Eatery
Right on the
Madhapur main road, Hocco eatery is a little surprise 😊.
This is a veg only place which also has nice ice cream options! Their Pav Bhaji
and Chole Batura are really tasty. This place will be visited more to explore
the other options they have available.
Swach
Perhaps modelled after the concept at Taaza kitchen, the best thing about Swach is it’s ambience. You can stand and eat, sit casual on a bench and eat; or sit properly at a table and eat! Their food is not exceptional though. They have too many counters (for Poori, for Dosa, for Idli, for beverages etc). I was reminded of Swathi tiffins in Somajiguda that has one counter for all and yet does a fantastic job at delivering! The green coconut chutney is good; the poori is also good. The dosa was underwhelming though. Not a place that I would frequent.
Renao Café & Bistro
This place is right next to Palamuru Grill and despite seeing that on every visit to Palamuru Grill, it took many years to visit this place! Should have visited this place much earlier. Both the food and the ambience of this place are very good. We were a group of 4 and we ended up playing Scrabble while enjoying their various food offerings. They have a pizza called Seven Heaven – seven different types of cheese on the pizza. For a cheese lover like me, this is truly heaven indeed! The pizza tasted awesome as expected because all cheeses used were authentic. The Som Tom Salad is not a dish that many places prepare in Hyderabad. This salad was a good dish here. The Laksa soup was also nice with both the coconut flavour and spices tickling your taste buds! Both the Gyoza and steamed dimsums, veg and non-veg, were very nice. The Water chestnuts in Hunan sauce could have tasted better though. And not to forget, their French Fries tasted quite good too! Overall, it was a great experience eating and playing at Renao!
Harley’s Fine Baking
Fine baking
indeed! Their different Medovik cakes are really a treat to the taste buds. In
addition, their tiramisu and chocolate cakes are awesome too. I think all of
them are eggless too. And since it is fine baking, they are all costly too but
it’s ok to indulge in fine baking some times 😊. The hot cappuccino and cold coffee they make are also very pleasing to the stomach!
Last Coffee House (by the lake)
This is the last house in a street that is the by the lake and perhaps that’s why the name Last Coffee House 😊. The location is not their only selling point. They actually have coffee beans from different estates in India (not all of them will be available on a given day though). I liked their medium roast (both the Riverside and Ben’s Brew) better than their dark roast (named Valley) when I had the pour-overs for these three. Both their hot cappuccino and cold coffee are also quite good. I haven’t had any food here so far. Next time!
House of Bagaara (HoB)
Interesting name. Nothing interesting about the food though 😊. This is not to say their taste is not good – I liked many items here. Just that the food is not as interesting as the name! The Chicken-65 is good. Bagara rice with the Telangana Mutton Curry, Homestyle chicken curry was quite tasty and good! I even tried Double ka Meetha here and it tasted ok’ish!
Polar Bear
What a name to choose for an ice cream joint! I like creative names 😊. Their “Triple Luv” truly showers some real ice cream love on you! Infact, they have the best possible combination in this – vanilla, pista and fruit! Topped with some dry fruits and honey, you will really feel loved after having this. And then they have this vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and chocolate cake – named “My DBC”, that was also very good in taste. I also had their Alphonso Mango Falooda and liked it a lot (well it's Mango, so it can't go bad!).
My Fishing Boat
The location of this eatery is very interesting. It is located under the Hitech City Metro station, just a floor above the pavement! And is also one of the few places that serve proper pan fried fish 😊 – and to top it all, they use the Black Pompret fish (also called Roopchand!) for this fry. The fish fry had the correct spice levels, was cooked perfectly and tasted perfect too! We also ordered some Chinese from here but nothing much to write about those dishes 😊.
Shoyu
My brother calls me and wonders why I haven’t ordered from Shoyu yet! Unable to bear that pressure (😝), I placed an order. And then I realised why my brother was putting so much pressure! Shoyu serves some real tasty and excellent Asian cuisine – my favorite (like many others) is their Trufle Asparagus and Avocado Sushi. I’ve probably had it some 3 times in the past one month! I liked their other Sushis and Dimsums too – Spicy Chicken Shumai, Pan Fried Chicken & Rice Paper Dumpling, and their Katsu Chicken Roll. Their packing is very neat and you get a good portion of Wasabi as a side 😊. Shoyu is quite costly though but it’s understandable why it’s so costly too!
SpiceBox Organics
The simple pleasures of life get rekindled here when you have their Vegan Carrot cake. First, the taste of orange zest will hit your taste buds. While you are enjoying that tinge the carrot hits you. And while you are still trying to figure why this tastes so good, the coconut flakes hit your buds! This encore experience cannot be described and can only be experienced. It being a vegan cake, it isn’t heavy on the tummy at all. I had even recommended this to my vegan friends and they were raving about it too. The coffee here also very good (I think also because of the fact that by default they do double shot, therefore making it an ideal mix of milk and coffee!). This place is newly opened in Madhapur and I would definitely recommend this place! They also sell a lot of spices and dals here.
Taaza Kitchen
The best time to eat at this place is before 8am because after that it just gets crowded! The place offers a very simple menu and the best part is that is it does not encourage any modifications (Less oil, less masala stuff!!) The Idly with green chutney is simply too good, especially for the green chutney lovers. They offer only Masala Dosa and the size is just perfect to have atleast 2 of them 😊. The Khara bath is little runny for my liking but the Kesari bath is too good here. And you must end this sumptuous breakfast with their awesome Filter Coffee.
Savla's Home Food
Many places claim to be home food but only few live up to the taste. Savla’s is definitely one such place. For me, the best example of home food was their Mango Juice during the summers 😊. Their thalis are sumptuous – dal is good, paneer butter masala is awesome, chole masala is good, pulkas and parathas are also very good. Other friends have mentioned how their Theplas are also quite good.
Roast
Located at a walking distance from office (in Raheja IT park!), we’ve often frequented this place for their coffee and desserts! Fresh brewed hot café latte and cappuccino are real mood lifters here. The pour over and Frenchpress coffees (essentially just coffee without the milk) are also awesome – if you have them after a tired day, all tiredness will be gone 😊. The cold frappes are also quite good here. The desserts at this place are by Dessert & Co. The ice-creams and Gelato here are very (very) good – almost all flavours are repeat-worthy. Specifically, I like their coffee ice-cream a lot. In addition, Tiramisu is awesome too.
Kshatriya Foods
A good recommendation from a friend made us first land at this place. Their local food options and the tastes were really good. Their Doopudu Gorre Pulav, made with chitti mutyalu rice was very very tasty. It was spicy yet tasty! All their starters were also very good – chicken fry, mutton fry, pomphret fry, Kouju Pitta roast (though I felt the odour was little strong from the kouju pitta!). Both the times we went, many of their items in the Seasonal Food menu weren’t available (was excited seeing Chinthachiguru mutton and panasa mukkala pulav, but both weren’t available). I think they are closed now because of the pandemic.
The Bowl Company
I like their concept – right quantity of meat/veggies along with flavoured rices! Their Caribbean Grilled Chicken with herbed rice is light on the stomach and very tasty too. So is the Peri Peri Chicken with Egg corn rice. Spicy Thai Basil chicken with garlic fried rice is also very refreshing, with the Basil especially!
GudGudee
I never thought I will like something made out of beetroot! Their description of Beetroot Kebab reads –“Pan fried beetroot kebabs packed with the goodness of beetroot with an interesting blend of flavours”. Am telling you – the flavours in the kebab are very (very) interesting! If I had to order just one item, it would be their beetroot kebab! This is to not take away anything from their other dishes. The Vietnamese Noodle Soup and Spicy Tom Yum soup were refreshing soups from the usual Chinese soups 😊. Exotic Vegetables in Hot Chilli Basil sauce with their piping hot noodles is a very good main course to have! Oh, and ofcourse the Jalapeno Cheese Poppers too!
Davanagere Benne Dosa
Very simple menu to choose from, but you will just keep wanting to go back here again and again for that awesome taste. Dosas with loads of butter and a batter that is very different from the usual hotel fare is the big hall mark. The coconut chutney and the smashed aloo paste that come along with the Benne Dosa are also very awesome. There is nothing much to choose here – just the quantity of Benne Dosa you want to have 😊.
The Big Cup Theory
They actually have an impressive menu but both the times I went there, it was at times where we only wanted to have coffee! Their Café Latte was ofcourse good. We tried their Espresso Affogato and liked that too! As backup, we had ordered a Choco Lava cake, but we ended up liking both the coffee and the dessert!
