Cafe Bahar

They have opened up in Begumpet too now! Needless to say – chicken biryani and mutton biryani are very nice here! We even had roti and mutton kheema curry and they were ofcourse good! If you are in the vicinity of basheerbagh or Begumpet, don’t have second thoughts on where to eat!

Price: Rs.500-600 for two
Location: Begumpet, Basheerbagh

Needs Dhaba

Which fool will walk into a Punjabi hotel and just order Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken 65? Yours truly :D :D ... but boy I don't have any regrets for doing so! I have heard so much about this place, located in Kundanbagh, Begumpet (beside the lane of Lifestyle building) that I really did not know what to order to take back home. First I thought, will take naan and butter chicken but was really not in a mood to eat them that day. Hence the wierd order, but believe me, it was worth it. For sure am going back to this place to have more!

Frankie

Located right next to Lifestyle building, this place is similar to Roll Call, only that the menu is simpler and shorter :).

Again, double egg with either Schezuan Chicken or Chilly Chicken is ideal. And one is never enough here. Two is better. Three is perfect ;-)!

Tandoor

Only once have I been to this place and the food was very unimpressive. The look from outside and the ambience inside is very regal. Only if the food matched the regal nature of the ambience, would it have been a super hit. And quite surprisingly the buffet had very few "tandoor" items! This junction has much better food places, and this one is something you can safely avoid.

Malgudi

Very few restaurants offer an ambience as this one does. Actually, it the way the employees dress that pleases the eye once we enter. The utensils are all also of copper, and it gives you a feeling of eating at your relatives place! The Chicken Soup/Mutton Soup they offer on the menu is similar to what mom's make at home :-). After the Chicken/Mutton Soup, the fish fry is a must. Along with it, the chilly chicken and the baby corn manchuria for the vegetarians, are also good accompaniments. For the main course, white rice along with chicken chettinad, mutton fry, fish pulusu will all make you feel like you are eating at home! The pulao is also good, but sometimes these people tend to mix up Biryani and Pulao. We've had to fight with them a couple of times to actually get the pulao. This pulao is like the one we make at home, and the biryani is supposed to be Dum Biryani (which isn't worth ordering here). The fruit salad with ice cream is the best way to finish your full coarse meal.

Malgudi is located at three places, but always prefer to go the one in Lifestyle building. The other two places often don't have south Indian varieties to eat!
